Tell Congress to stop tax-payer subsidy of the violent NFL rapsheet!!!

  • by: Andy Walton
  • recipient: Speaker of the House Rep. John Beohner

The NFL has been tax-exempt since the 1940's, and after the 1966 amendment of the tax code for organizations that qualified for 501c(6) status, like the NFL, the fact that they would pay far less in taxes than even most corporations got a lot more secure.  Today, the NFL generates roughly ten billion dollars in annual revenue, while at the same time paying their players fifty times more than the average American salary.

Each year dozens of those same players are charged with what amounts to a tax-payer subsidized violent rap sheet: domestic assault, drunk driving, vehicular manslaugher, child abuse, sexual assault, possession of narcotics with intent to traffic, illeagal possession of firearms, murder.  It's time to send the NFL ownership a clear message: since you cannot manage your house, we will manage ours by revoking your tax-exempt status.

Vote yes on this petition to Speaker of the House John Beohner to pass legislation requiring the NFL to pay the same taxes as any other American corporation.
