Help for the homeless

There is a growing number of homeless all over the United States, hard working people, without alcohol or drug issues, wages stay down, rents and taxes keep going up, subsidized housing, like section 8 along with another group that supposed helps with this issue, they have 2 to 4 year waiting lists, in the meantime there's people livung in their cars, in the woods, also sleeping in store fronts, most places don't have an adequate place to shower for hygiene purposes, keep in mind, most of these poor people work 2 to 3 jobs, places want 1st, last, plus deposits, which could cost anywhere from $3,000 to $5,000 dollars just to move into a place, but to be approved, you have to make up to 3 times the rent per month, that is impossible for alot of people.
I have a couple of suggestions, make it easier on people to afford the housing, making 1 1/2 times the rent, stop price gauging on the rents, the wages have not been going up, so lower the rents back to an affordable amount, they have been steadily going up every year about $200 to $300 per month, also, there's properties the government owns that can be used for housing in every state, that isn't being used, it's just been vacant for too many years, I am not talking about disrupting the wild life, leave them alone, they need to be protected too, also the government can put more out there for subsidies housing, please, we are Americans too, born and raised, if anyone has any ideas, we are open to listening
