Save the Black Tigers of Odisha

Whereas the tiger population in India has increased as a whole, the unique melanistic tigers of Odisha have gone from 45 in 2006 down to 28. Though poaching does not seem to be affecting their numbers, they are suffering from habitat loss and lack of prey.

This is why the Indian government needs to set aside a large preserve to keep these unusual and beautiful animals from disappearing for good.

Whereas the overall tiger population in India has increased in recent years, the population of Odisha's unique "black" tigers has dropped from 45 to 28 in just eight years. We the undersigned ask that you increase efforts to protect these distinctive animals by providing them with a preserve large enough to supply them with all the territory and prey they need to survive.
