Support for NOT banning chickens within Elizabeth City (bird sanctuary)

During the city council meeting last night, the issue of changing the chicken ordinance is back on the chopping block. It went from no changes, to put a number of chickens you can have to 8, to now trying to ban all chickens within city limits. Due to a my neighbor from hell won't leave me alone because I own/have chickens. I currently have 10. My husband is overseas. He is very irritated this neighbor won't let it go.

The following is his statement:

Attention, residents Elizabeth City, Some of you may not know, nor care, that your ability to keep, raise, and enjoy the benefits of, chickens and/or poultry is presently on the chopping block.

A personal grudge has become a point of contention on the city council and you may be looking at the loss of your personal property because of it. We have attempted to fight the good fight, follow the code, and, in the oft-quoted words of Robert Frost, become 'good neighbors' by erecting that erstwhile fence, but to no avail.

It is said, the squeaky wheel gets the grease, and it appears only chicken fat will be the grease to satisfy that squeak.

So, Elizabeth City residents, stand by for a glut of egg-layers, roasters or hassenpfeffer meat in the next 12 to 18 months if certain folks get their way
