Let's Get Chatham Back on Track!

Chatham (New York) was a vibrant center of industry and culture in early part of the 20th Century when it was served by regular passenger train service. Times changed and Chatham's passenger train service fell victim to the economic downturn of the 1970's. Chatham has started to enjoy a revival as a wonderful place to live, a cultural center and a tourism destination. Amtrak trains pass through town twice daily but still do not stop. Chatham has been a good host to Amtrak's railroad and now we need restoration of passenger train service to help us grow our town responsibly and in an environmentally friendly way.  We, the people of Chatham and Columbia County, are asking Amtrak, our local government, our state government and our federal government to make an investment in us.  Adding a stop in Chatham will not require extensive new tracks or routes, Amtrak's current service between Albany and Pittsfield passes right through the center of town.  Establishing a new station in town will create jobs, bring customers to our business and improve the lives of existing residents.  Please join us! - Jason Krantz, CEO, Chatham Back on Track!
