Brunei is about to pass a law that will allow people to be stoned to death.
This heinous practice is against the morals of the Commonwealth of Nations, of which Brunei is a part. They must either stop this law or leave the Commonwealth. We cannot condone this horrid punishment.
Not just anyone, however - those accused of robbery, rape, insulting the prophet and those that have been accused of homosexual behaviour. This includes everyone in the LGBT+ community. Robbery and violent crimes can be punished in non-violent ways and homosexuality or infidelity (but only in the case of women) do not need to be adjudicated in the public sphere as they are interperson decisions that do not harm society.
Stoned to death. Dying in this way is slow, painful and inhumane.
Previously, laws against this behaviour were strict and presented serious legal consequences, now things have gotten completely out of hand. We, along with George Clooney and the UN, ask that human rights be respected and that one of the richest countries in the world be held accountable for this inhumane law.
