Tell Congress to investigate the terrible impact of American Indian boarding school policies.

Last month, the Department of the Interior released the first volume of their investigative report on the Federal Indian Boarding School Initiative. The results were devastating.

For 170 years, Native American children were forced to attend boarding schools set up by the federal government, religious organizations, and churches.

Children were taken from their families and forced to assimilate by learning English and practicing Christianity. Physical and sexual abuse was rampant. The investigation found 53 burial sites at boarding school locations.

It is long past time for the United States to acknowledge the historic trauma of this era.

As Quakers, we seek a world where everyone's potential can be fulfilled. That world cannot exist without acknowledging policies like these that tore families and communities apart. Add your name to demand Congress authorize The Truth and Healing Commission on Indian Boarding School Policies.
