We call upon South African Parliament, And ruling party, to hear our plead to increase SASSA Disability and Old Age Grants

As an concern South African Nationals, We call upon South African Parliament to hear our plead to increase SASSA Disability and Old Age Grants to around R4750 which is on par with minimum wage for now, but in the future it needs to be increased to around R8000 , in the Russian Federation Disability and Old Age Grants are around this region and Russia is deemed to be an poor country.

South Africans have a minimum wage of R4750 and an disability of R1990 per month, These two need to be around the same amount to enable those with Disability to be able to look after themselves in reality it should probably be around R8000 for both of these, if you really want to live a quality life.

Rent is extremely high in South Africa yet our Minimum wage does not really reflect the living cost at the moment, average rent for a house is around R4000 an month, so this will be an very weak increase. Yet at this moment in time the South African government is increasing the disability with around R10 every six months, which is not acceptable, and is not really changing the situation for the elderly and those with severe disability within our country.

We merely stand on your rights, within the constitution the rights to housing , our right to human dignity etc. as people get older they become more susceptible to disease and those with disabilities have special needs someone to take care of them, and railings get in and out of the bath tub and constant scrubbing of the stump with amputees.

I believe this low monthly amount to be unconstitutional within our criteria of our rights, held within the bill of rights, that is our constitution and the supreme law in South Africa.

South African domestic annual GDP is around 370 billion usd (400billion usd)

That’s around 6 Trillion South African rand, that’s around 6000 billion rand, annually we pay out around 149million rand in Social Grants, We definitely need to call on parliament to adjust this to around 1 – 2 billion rand if we want to make an impact on those living in South Africa that are disabled with special needs or living with Hiv / AIDS within South African National borders.
