Reduce Outsouring of American Jobs

Formally Request to General Electric to Eliminate jobs being outsourced overseas from their American Buisness Units
AMERICAN JOBS OUTSOURCED

Petition to The General Electric Company

February 27, 2004

We the undersigned formally request that the General Electric Company, review their policies regarding off shore outsourcing of jobs that could be performed in the United States by qualified candidates.

We are petitioning General Electric because of their visibility and impact that the company has on the American economy. We believe that GE truly is committed to the principals of integrity in all matters regarding the conduct of their business and as members of the communities in which they do business.

There is no doubt the General Electric Company is committed to not only integrity regarding business matters but as members of the community at large. We respect their contributions in community service not only in dollars donated, but also in encouraging thousands of their employees to donate time in service.

It is these admirable qualities that make General Electric one of the most admired companies in the world. We are asking General Electric to further their leadership role by reducing the number of jobs that are being outsourced to India and other countries by General Electric and all associates and subsidiaries.

We further request that General Electric develop a strong commitment in developing job growth in the United States in all their business sectors whenever possible, rather than opting for outsourcing as a cost reducing measure.

This practice not only impoverishes American workers in both working and middle classes, but effects your long term ability to sell goods and services to a dwindling customer base who find themselves chronically unemployed because of a shrinking job

market. Because of this practice many highly educated and highly qualified workers have found themselves unemployed or radically underemployed for an extended period of time. Indeed, some have never recovered.

The increasing hardships experienced by American workers as a direct result of outsourcing leads to increasing racial tensions, bigotry and outright hostility towards Indians and will ultimately lead to civil unrest at home and abroad. The truth is Americans want to business with Americans.

Finally, outsourcing does little for the conditions of countries such as India. Their governments are content to be fed the table-scraps offered my American corporations rather than seeking to develop their own viable industries.

We request that General Electric takes action now!

Thank you.
