Tell California candidates to make mental illness and substance use issues a priority

In California, mental illness and substance use issues are among the most prevalent health conditions. In fact, 6 million people in our state—men, women, and children—live with some type of mental illness. Two out of three won't get the help they need.

Behavioral health, which includes both mental health and substance use issues in our communities, is the great unaddressed health care issue of our time. But together, we can help tackle this head-on by challenging California's leaders to make solutions a priority and take action.

We're calling on California candidates and lawmakers to:
- Acknowledge that mental illness and substance use challenges are just as important as a person's physical well-being;
- Share their vision for how California can lead on destigmatizing mental illness and substance use conditions;
- Detail their plan for increasing access to care for Californians with mental illness and substance use challenges;
- And make mental illness and substance use solutions a top priority.

California's leaders must take bold, visionary, and consistent action to address mental illness and substance use issues. Sign the petition today and make your voice heard.

Let candidates and lawmakers know they need to address California's behavioral health crisis — and we'll deliver your signatures.
