HELP SAVE "YE OLD RED LION" IN OAKLEY GREEN, WINDSOR SL4 4PZ

Ye Olde Red Lion is a community pub based in the heart of Oakley Green in Windsor. It is an Asset of Community Value valid until 2020 and is a Grade 2 listed building in places. Very sadly, the current landlord was given 10 days notice by owners Punch Tavern to vacate the pub. The closing day is next Monday 30th April 2018

This is a very popular pub holding many different events plus a great venue for holding local charitable fund raisers which it has done over the last few years raising thousands of pounds during this time. It is also family, wheelchair and dog friendly and has a very loyal customer base. They held a fabulous wedding reception here in the gardens and it looked like something straight out of a Brides magazine as a perfect outdoor venue. Ye Olde Red Lion is also recognised by many local (and not so local) musicians as Marc periodically organises some very memorable music events which are always much loved and very well attended. From poetry readings and ghost story nights to music nights that include Motown and 60's nights and almost every other music genre in between. There is always something going on for his customers to look forward to. 

Sadly, a Christening due to be held in two weeks time has had to be cancelled due to the closure on 30th April. 

It currently has the most amazing landlord, namely, Marc Hunter who took over running the pub in 2015 along with Anne Shenton having lived near the pub for all of his life. Marc is now the lifeblood of the pub and he has turned it into the most unique venue where he makes everyone feel very welcome whether they are regulars or first time visitors! He runs a very tight ship and has the most amazing team of very loyal staff supporting him. Marc has ploughed his own money into Ye Olde Red Lion during his time there to make various improvements but sadly, Punch Taverns/Heineken have suddenly decided to call time on both Marc, his staff and the pub and as he is only on a Tenancy of Will he (and the tenants) have been asked to leave with no reason given for its closure.

We have no idea if Punch Tavern management will listen but we can all but try. We desperately want the pub to remain as it is which is a profitable, friendly and popular community focused village pub and we ask you to therefore please support us by signing this petition and sharing it.

We also would like you to support Marc Hunter remaining as the pub landlord. There is no Ye Olde Red Lion without Marc and we hope Punch Tavern will give him (and his tenants) a stay of execution and maybe even a tenancy agreement so that his future and the that of the pub, staff and tenants can be secured for the future.
