The US didn't just help lead the fight against HIV/AIDS, the US fueled it. Millions are alive today because of US efforts to prioritize testing, treatment, and global cooperation.

Now a new HIV/AIDS drug is being delivered to the hardest-hit African countries, and the finish line is finally in sight.

But 570,000 people died from AIDS-related illnesses in 2025, and 1.2 million people were newly infected. This isn't over.
