Ensure Every Voter Has Their Say. Restore the Voting Rights Act!

August 6 marks the 54th anniversary of the Voting Rights Act (VRA) becoming law and ensuring every American has the right to vote.

But six years ago, the Supreme Court overturned an essential provision of the VRA in Shelby County v. Holder, a decision that has led to countless attacks on the voting rights of Americans in recent election cycles.

Modern-day Jim Crow laws have taken the form of voter ID laws, purges of the voting rolls, reduction of early voting and other areas. The svelte tactics of the 21st Century look different from those that occurred during the last half of the 20th century, but they still have the same purpose: preventing key voting blocks from participating in our democracy.

Restoration of the VRA is vital to ensuring that every voter can have a voice in our democracy.

Now is the time to protect every voter in American before next year's critical 2020 elections. The Voting Rights Amendment Act would help do just that by providing oversight to ensure that discriminatory voting practices are shut down for good.

Make your voice heard today! Tell Congress to mark the anniversary of the VRA by passing the Voting Rights Amendment Act.
