Extend Unemployment Insurance for a Full Year
Our economy is still in the tank -- just ask the millions of unemployed Americans who've struggled for months and years to find full-time work. Yet, in less than two months many of these people are set to lose their unemployment benefits, leaving their future even more uncertain.
Unemployment insurance doesn't just benefit the people who receive it. That money pays for rent, groceries, school supplies and the other consumer spending that our economy relies on to recover and grow.
It's time for Congress to get its priorities straight. Millions of unemployed people and the families and businesses that count on them need support. Extending unemployment insurance is a necessary step to create an economy that works for everyone, not just the 1 percent.
