Letter Subject: Don't Abandon Wyoming's Endangered Wolves
Dear President Barack Obama,
Please do not remove the wolves in Wyoming from the endangered species list.
[Your comment will be added here]
Wolves are vital to the ecology of Wyoming and nearby states such as Colorado -- which currently has the largest population of elk in the lower 48 states -- but the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service plans to allow powerful special interests in Wyoming to slaughter most of the state's wolves.
That would isolate the wolves in Yellowstone National Park, putting them at risk of decline, and would unnecessarily destroy a successful endangered species recovery program.
Wolves are beautiful, intelligent, social animals that help maintain the balance of nature. The job of wolf recovery is not finished -- and it would be terribly undermined if you sacrifice Wyoming's wolves to the short-sighted politics of the Cowboy State.
Thank you for your sincere consideration of this important issue.
Sincerely,
[Your name]
