Western University of Health Sciences is one of the largest health science campus in the nation. However, we lack a doctoral program in a translational or biomedical science that would not only round off the many degree offerings we have in other health sciences, but would further grow WesternU in funding, creativity, collaboration, research endeavors, and recognition. Having a PhD program(s) in translational and/or biomedical sciences at WesternU will bring students and faculty that will allow WesternU's research endeavors to increase through new ideas, discovery, and funding. There are already plans to create such a doctoral prgram, however it has been met with some opposition. This petition is to help advance the current plans to establish a PhD prgram. Just think of all the possibilites: new dual degrees, increased accesibility to research, new discoveries, new sources of collaboration and application, and growing WesternU to futher the mission- "To produce, in a humanistic tradition, health care professionals and biomedical knowledge that will enhance and extend the quality of life in our communities."
