STOP the Destruction of the Texas Hill Country

The Lower Colorado River Authority is planning to build 180 foot high voltage lines through private properties, over highways, and over neighborhoods in the Texas Hill Country.  The Texas Legislators authorized the LCRA to construct these lines.  Current and former electric company employees have stated that the existing power lines in the Hill Country can be upgraded to send electricity to the "IH-35 Corridor" rather than building new lines.  LCRA refuses to consider this option or building the lines down IH-10.

If you would like to keep the scenic Texas Hill Country beautiful, please sign our petition to stop the LCRA from building these dangerous, ugly, and unnecessary high voltage lines.  Visit our website for more information.  http://www.lcralandgrab.com/
Lower Colorado River Authority and Public Utility Commission of Texas want to construct three new, double-circuit capable, bundled conductor, 345-kilovolt transmission lines through the heart of the Texas Hill Country to connect west Texas wind energy to substations in Kerr, Gillespie and Kendall Counties.  All in the name of the renewable energy craze.

The high voltage lines consist of steel lattice structures 180 feet tall and 700 feet apart that will look like giant, steel scars across the most beautiful, pristine lands in Texas! The LCRA will clear 160 foot wide paths of vegetation for the easements and utility trucks and machinery to have access.  This will kill off and displace thousands of animals and subject Hill Country Residents to health risks.

Please vote to stop this attack on private property rights which will devalue property that has been in some families for more than 150 years.  Please vote to stop this proposal that will permanently destroy one of the most beautiful areas of our state.  Please vote to stop this proposal that could seriously thwart the area's most dominant industry - tourism.

There is no reason to construct a new line that gashes across the Texas Hill Country when there are already transmission lines connecting the West Texas substation to the Kendall County substation.  We have been in contact with electric company employees that attest to the fact that existing transmission lines can be upgraded to transport the electricity without having to build new lines.

Please listen to the voices of the residents, land owners, and visitors of the Texas Hill Country.  We do not want our beautiful landscape, native wildlife, and endangered species harmed by needless high lines.
