WATASHA KENYATA LAW

MY DAUGHTER WAS ABUSED FOR YEARS AND RECENTLY SHE WAS  MURDERED WHILE HER 10 YEAR OLD SON WAS SLEEP IN THE HOUSE. HER SON'S FATHER HAS BEEN ARRESTED IN CONNECTION WITH THE MURDER. I WOULD LIKE TO CREATE A LAW FOR THE VICTIM'S THAT REFUSE TO PRESS CHARGES THAT WOULD ALLOW THE PARENT OR WITNESS TO PRESS CHARGES INSTEAD. I FEEL THAT I COULD HAVE SAVED MY DAUGHTER IF I WAS ABLE TO PRESS CHARGES AGAINST HER ABUSER. THERE WERE MANY TIMES I WITNESSED FOR MYSELF HIM HOLDING HER HAIR IN ONE HAND AND A GUN IN THE OTHER. I WOULD CALL THE POLICE, HOWEVER, DUE TO HER NOT WANTING TO PRESS CHARGES OR TOO SCARED TO, THE POLICE WOULD REFUSE TO HELP. MANY TIMES HER ABUSER HAD ALREADY FLED AND WE WERE POWERLESS TO HELP HER. I WOULD LIKE TO ENACT A LAW THAT COULD POSSIBLY PUT A STOP TO ALL OR MOST OF THE DOMESTIC ABUSE THAT COULD TURN FATAL. THE ONLY WAY IS FOR OTHER FAMILY MEMBERS AND FRIENDS TO BE ABLE TO PRESS CHARGES FOR THE VICTIMS. PLEASE HELP ME TO GET THIS LAW STARTED....

We the undersigned would like to petition to get the Watasha Kenyata Law passed. It is in the best interest for all of society. This could be the answer to the domestic violence problem that has overswept the world. We want the violence that is killing so many to end.
