direct democracy citizens initiative

I propose that every citizen should be allowed to serve in government.

[Think of it as being akin to jury duty.]
For instance, send out opportunity letters for service..
those who volunteer can enter a series of primaries to narrow the field of candidates and the people can choose whom they'd like to be represented by.

Equal platform time, equal public funding.
People get elected to serve in local, state and federal governments.

This should reduce the cost of government, reduce the influence of outside/special interest monies and increase the quality of governing.

It will also serve to instill patriotism and statesmanship, and likely restore faith & trust in government in general.

A person could recieve a wage for serving and a subsidy/bonus on thier retirement income down the road.. for instance.
