Help Stop Overpopulation

"If we don't halt population growth with justice and compassion, it will be done for us by nature, brutally and without pity - and will leave a ravaged world."

Dr. Henry W. Kendall (Nobel Prize Winner)

The Facts:

- The current world population is around 6.8 billion people.

- In 1950, the world population was only 2.5 billion people. Less than half of what it is today.

- Within only 50 years, the population has increased by 4.3 billion people due to a greater knowledge of medicine, easy food accessibility, and other increases in technology.

- The population is still steadily increasing, projected to reach 9 billion by 2050.

Why It's Such a Problem:

- More people need more homes, which requires more land, which destroys more wildlife and trees which adds more CO2 in the atmosphere, which increases global warming

- More people require more food, which adds to the world hunger problem

- More people require more water, and there is only a limited supply of freshwater on earth

- More people require more electricity, and more transportation, and basically more technology, which releases more CO2 into the atmosphere, and increases global warming

- More people require more resources in general, and are already quickly depleting them.

- Basically, overpopulation is the root of most of the world%u2019s biggest problems

- All the other problems cannot be solved until we face this one.

What You Can Do To Help:

In older times, people had large families because many of the children wouldn't survive into adulthood. However, with better technology and knowledge, people now live longer, and almost all children in the U.S. born today go on to have children of their own, exponentially increasing the population. If people merely have fewer children, the population can be easily steadied. If each couple has only two children, the equivalent of one child per person, the population will no longer increase. Two children are enough to have a nice small family, and if you are someone who really would like a larger family, you can always adopt children after you have the pleasure of giving birth to your own "mini me". Of course it is impossible to get everyone in the world to follow this policy, but if enough people start, the rate of population increase will be less.

By Signing this Petition I Pledge to:

Have no more than two children

Adopt children if I want more children

- If I already have more than two children, I will not have any more, and instead devote my love to the children I already have

Please consider helping the world, Overpopulation is a giant problem with a simple solution!
