Increase Australian music content on Australian Radio to 40%
- by: Steve Romig

Australian commercial radio stations are petitioning the government to decrease the amount of Australian content on Australian commercial radio.
At the moment it stands at 25% with no stipulations relating to new content.
The attitudes taken by commercial radio over the last 3 decades has seen a decline in, what once was, a thriving Australian music industry that saw the birth of an extraordinary array of international music acts.
LRB, Men at Work and INXS are some examples of this.
Australian music is unique in the world with a sound found no where else.
We need to do everything we can to preserve this!!
There are new Australian talents being unearthed on a regular basis and they should have the opportunity to be heard by a wide audience to increase their chance of success here and overseas.
We encourage and support sport here in Australia which is a wonderful thing.
We need to put our support behind our people in the arts as well or be held to account for it.
Thank you
We, the undersigned, wish to have commercial radio licenses granted to stations that play 40% Australian content with a stipulation that at least half of that is new Australian original music.
We wish to support our Australian music industry.
We appreciate your time and any efforts you make in support of this
Thank you.
