Andi Elliott, The President of the Humane Society of Upper Valley, in Menan, Jefferson County, Id. was being persecuted by local law enforcement for only doing her job! In past cases, the sheriff even had her arrested for tresspassing when she was responding to a call from a local news station regarding some neglected horses. Turns out, the owner of the neglected horses was a close personal friend of the sheriff! After many stalls, threats, intimidations and other taunts, Andi was offered a plea bargain whereby she would not be fined or jailed and would still be allowed to work in her capacity as a humane officer of the county. Not happy at the prospect of having to plea guilty to something she wasent guilty of, upon the advice of her attorney and to just have done with it, she went ahead and took a plea, based on a promice by the Sheriffs Dept that she would be RECOGNIZED as a duly qualified animal welfare officer and would be allowed to continue working in Jefferson County as such. That was the idea and the hope was that it would work out that way. Unfortunately, time has proved that that is simply not the case. The harassment continues and Jefferson Countys animal cruelty laws are still not being enforced; Here is a vid of Andi's latest struggle to get the laws enforced in a case involving a badly injured dog let to suffer; http://www.youtube.com/user/MuleKist#p/a/f/2/FNLopNJ8xME
Its time to expose the problems in Jefferson County, ID in getting their animal welfare laws enforced, and to gather support for Andi in that she is in a "hot-bed" of animal cruelty fighting the good fight practically all alone. She and only a few of her friends have stepped up to the plate to take on this problem regarding the lack of enforcement of Jefferson County's animal cruelty laws.
We can help by contacting Sheriff Blair to let him know that he should take crimes against animals seriously and should support Andi in her efforts instead of ignoring her or arresting her or otherwise working against her.
