Violence and gun violence in particular has reached a level of unacceptable extremes. Our entertainment culture with its violent movies and TV programs, show guns and killing in an unrealistic, glamorous light. This needs to be addressed and Hollywood executives need to be accountable for their influence over our children.
To the Top 6 Studio Executives:
1) Michael Barker - Sony
2) Rob Friedman - Lionsgate
3) Jim Gianopulos - FOX
4) Jeffrey Katzenberg - Dreamworks
5) Donna Langley - Universal
6) Rob Moore - Paramount
The crisis of violence in our world needs to be addressed and amended immediately.
The recent violent loss of innocent young children and dedicated teachers in Newtown Connecticut warrants that action needs to be taken so that they may not have died in vain.
Hollywood needs to be held, at least in part, accountable for the violence that so permeates our present day culture. We, the undersigned greatly encourage Hollywood executives to TONE DOWN THE VIOLENCE.
Studies have proven that movies and TV shows can and do influence the minds of the viewers. Fact: After the release of the famous dalmatian movie, dalmatian puppy sales soared.1
We ask that you be serious in your consideration of our request and to end your profiting from movies that contribute or encourage, in any way, to our real-life, heart-breaking tragedies.
We will gladly sacrifice our viewing of violent movies and TV programming if it means our children, family, friends and neighbors will be even one iota safer in this world.
