Arm yourself! Change the Pistol Free Zone regulations

Ask yourself these questions; Where do a majority of mass shootings/killings occur in our country? What do situations such as Virginia Tech, Columbine, Newtown Connecticut school shooting, and Aurora, Co. (Just to name a few) have in common?  It is no coincidence that these are all "Pistol Free Zones" according to Section 28.425o of Michigan Legislature. We need to revisit and revise these regulations NOW!!! The people that are committing these horrific crimes know that these are places which house unarmed and vulnerable citizens. We the people should reserve the right to arm ourselves in such public areas to reduce vulnerability.  Do you really think that a criminal would be as likely to target a school, movie theater, place of worship, etc. if they were visually aware that there were one or more civilians with a legal firearm with them? I highly doubt it. How many shooting happen at gun ranges, police stations, or military bases do you hear about? Very few to none, due to the fact that everyone in those facilities are carrying personal protection weapons.

This brings me to the case of Michigan Open Carry Laws. One is allowed to carry a legally registered firearm in public that is in YOUR name, as long as it is not in a Pistol Free Zone (Obviously). Even individuals with CPLs (Concealed Pistol License) are prohibited to carry a firearm in designated areas. If one is openly carrying a firearm in public, they are most likely doing so with no ill intent, due to the fact that it DOES draw attention to you.  This can be good attention or bad attention, if a criminal sees that you have a weapon, you will probable not be harmed. If a police officer or an official sees your weapon, they may ask for your registration and subject you to some questioning, then if not harm is intended, you will be on your way.

Lets all take a good hard look at the facts. The answer to gun control is not to ban or remove them, but to educate and enforce the laws. With more law abiding citizens arming themselves in the proper manor, we can keep ALL of our public domains that we cherish safe for everyone.
