Canada is neglecting to fulfill its obligations under the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES).
Canada had a 90-day deadline to meet after the last CITES meeting in March 2013, and it was missed it! Yes, nearly two years later, the 76 new species that were added to the Convention still don’t have protection in Canada! Placed reservations on all 76 species that were given new protection - the only country to have done so.
Canada must do it's part to protect plants and animals before they are gone forever. I’m asking you to ensure that we do. Please lift the reservations, give endangered species the protection that they need - and do it in a timely fashion.
If you can, please also send a letter to your MP. Ask them to take action for endangered species by removing the reservations and adding these endangered animals to our domestic legislation.
