Support Omaha's Equal Employment Ordinance!

Already in Nebraska there is an effort underway that strives to strip lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) Omahan's of their civil rights in Omaha, Nebraska. This group calles themselves the Omaha Liberty Project. As of Sept. 15, 2012 they sent a petition to Omaha's Law Department for review. The Omaha Liberty Project wishes to put Omaha's Equal Employment ordinance on the city ballot to repeal the ordiance.

The Omaha City Council passed the Equal Employment ordinance earlier this year on a vote of 4-3 and signed by Omaha's Mayor Jim Suttle. This ordinance  works to ensure fairness in the workplace by prohibiting discrimination based on a person's gender identity and sexual orientation. This law does NOT affect building code to force businesses to install genderneutral or unisex restrooms or locker rooms. This law does NOT affect churches and/or religious organizations.
