Decrease Our Outrageous Sewer Rates and Stop the Automatic Increase Each Year

The cost of sewer services in Chelsea and some of the surrounding area has risen from $45 to $81 since 2009! Double Oak Water Reclamation increases rates every year. At this rate, it will be over $100 a month within 3 years. We need to put a stop to the automatic rate increases. Also, everyone pays the same amount, regardless of the usage amount. That is not fair. It should be based on how much water each home uses, as it is in every other area I have ever lived.
Many people live on a fixed income, and most others do not get a 10% increase in pay each year. Yet as it stands now, the rate increases have steadily been 10% each year, far exceeding the rate of inflation and the average pay increases.
For the above reasons, please join me by signing this petition to tell the Shelby County Commissioners that we need them to take a stand on our behalf.
