Stop the Superstition, Save the Aye Aye.

The Aye Aye is native to Madagascars rainforests. It makes it's sphereical nests in trees with one hole for exit and entry. It is a distant relative of the bat and is the only mammal that uses echolocation for hunting. The Aye Aye uses it's fingers to tap on dead trees and scoop out tasty bugs from inside. This unusual looking primate is number 8 on the top 20 list of endangered animals. Not only is it's natural habitat being destroyed, but locals think the Aye Aye is a symbol of death. Many are killed on sight because of unproven superstition. Some say that if the Aye Aye points it's narrowest finger at someone, they are marked for death. Others say that if an Aye Aye is seen in a village, the village will be plagued. Locals even go so far as to say the Aye Aye sneakes through thatched roofs at night to murder the occupats by puncturing their hearts with its narrowest finger.

Think about it. Have you ever felt like you stood out or couldn't fit in because you were differant? Have you ever been hurt by someones remarks on the way your face looks or the clothes you like to wear? Have you ever been afraid to show your face in public because of your culture or rumors spread about you? This is how the Aye Aye's life is exept, instead of the concequence being embarresment or shame, it is death. No living thing should be treated this way. Not people, not pets, and not Aye Ayes. You can't help the way you look or feel. That is what makes you, you. Nobody should be confined so that they can't be themselves, so why should the Aye Aye? Ask yourself these questions and answer how YOU would answer.

By signing this petition you have helped put a stop to discrimination by looks, and helped save a species that might not be so differant then yourself
