Protect Worldwide Health Care Providers from the "Gag Rule"

Recently, the House State-Foreign Operations Subcommittee voted to reinstate the "gag bill" which prohibits U.S. funding to international health care providers who advocate for abortion rights.

The gag rule impedes the ability of doctors to help their patients by preventing patients from receiving the care and guidance they need. Many international medical centers that support abortion rights also play a vital role in disease prevention. By disallowing funding to these medical centers it endangers a wide range of people who rely on them for reasons that go beyond seeking abortions

The reinstatement of the bill, along with further cuts the Subcommittee passed, is projected to increase the number of abortions by 1.3 million rather than decrease it. Many of these abortions will not be performed under safe conditions.

Don't endanger the lives of innocent people for the sake of enforcing a law that would be unconstitutional in the United States. Demand that the gag rule be repealed.
The "gag rule" is both unconstitutional and a threat to the health and safety of millions of men, women and children all over the world.

Cutting U.S. funding to facilities does not only jeopardize women seeking abortions by cutting off their access to information. It endangers those who go to these facilities for other health care such as HIV screenings or sexual education.

Furthermore, the bill is projected to increase the number of abortions annually rather than decreasing it making its passing dangerous and counterproductive.

Don't endanger the lives of millions of people simply to impose a law that would be considered unconstitutional in the United States. Repeal the "gag rule."
