We, the undersigned, respectfully request that you consider the information outlined in the following petition and take aggressive action to ensure a safer community by eliminating traffic in part of the Country Village Park.
The intent of this petition is to provide the Town of Islip with sufficient information in regards to the problems and potential hazardous conditions that currently exist at the southeast entrance to Country Village Park. The neighborhood currently has many young children that play near the entrance and on the streets leading to the entrance. During sporting events occuring at the park, traffic significantly increases and many automobiles are observed speeding at more than the posted speed limit while entering and leaving the park. Due to the layout of the streets relative to the location of the park's southeast entrance, there exist many "blind" spots especially at the corner of Grenadier Lane and Fawn Drive.
In addition, although there is a posted stop sign at the soutwest corner of Grenadier Lane where it intersects with Fawn Drive, it is often ignored by the drivers attempting to gain entrance to the park. The primary concern by the residents is for the safety of the local children and we look towards our local officials to help with a remedy.
By virtue of this petition, we, the undersigned property owners and members of the local community that live on the prime traffic routes to the southeast entrance to Country Village Park a/k/a Boomer Esiason Memorial Park, do hereby petition the Town of Islip planning board to initiate the following:
