Allow HCS middle school students to carry a cell phone
Currently, Hampton City Schools (HCS) do not allow our middle school students to carry a cell phone to school, even if they keep it off and in their locker. By signing this petition, you are showing your support for asking HCS to change their policy and to allow our middle school students to carry cell phones so that they are available to them before and after school hours. Our middle school students ride HRT buses, walk & ride bikes to/from school, go to high schools after school for JV sports, and attend after-school clubs & events. We feel that cell phones are a vital communication tool for parents & students to coordinate daily schedules and to have available in case of emergency.
We, the undersigned, pledge our support for a change to Hampton City School policy. We want you to allow our middle school students to carry a cell phone to school such that it is available to them before and after school hours. Our students are riding HRT buses, walking & riding bikes to/from school, going to high schools after school for JV sports, and attending after-school clubs & events. We feel that cell phones are a vital communication tool for parents and students to coordinate daily schedules and to have available in case of emergency.
