Don't chase interracial couples out of your church!

Gulnare Freewill Baptist Church in Pike County, Kentucky doesn't like interracial couples, and they don't mind who knows it. Stella Harville learned that to her chagrin. Harville had attended Gulnare all her life. Her parents are members of the church. So, naturally, when she got engaged, she brought her fiance to church. To her shock and disappointment, her fiance, an immigrant from Zimbabwe, was not welcome.

Not only did Gulnare's pastor Melvin Thompson tell Harville that neither she nor her fiance were welcome to perform music in the church; shortly thereafter, the church voted not to condone interracial marriage.

Tell Gulnare Baptist Freewill Church to welcome interracial couples and change their policy.

Jesus loved everybody, but you are not passing along that love and acceptance to all your church members.  The way you have treated a young woman who grew up in your church and whose parents have supported your church for years is just shameful. You need to reread your Bible. It does not say to despise people just because they are different from you. Rethink your policy on interracial marriage and welcome Stella Harville and her fiance into your fold.
