Tell Mubarak to Turn on the Internet in Egypt now!

Currently the internet has been completely shut down in Egypt, and other forms of communication have been restricted, including mobile phone lines, and maybe soon land lines. This is an effort by the government to prevent the world from knowing what is going on in Egypt.

The U.S. State Department is watching these events unfold without taking action. The U.S. government often speaks of democracy in the Middle East but even though it is unfolding as we speak in a repressive country, they are doing nothing to support it. They have the power to help the people. Egypt is the third largest receiver of government aid from the United States.

Sign this petition now, to be sent to the government of Egypt and the government of the United States, to STOP repression of the people, to STOP preventing democracy from happening, and open all communication lines.

President Obama Tell Egypt: The World is Watching!

We the undersigned request that you use your influence to assist the protesters in Egypt. If democracy is really something that you would like to see in the Middle East, the Arab world or in Muslim countries, this is your opportunity.
The Egyptian government has cut off internet and short messaging services in an effort to isolate the people. It's likely that violence of massive proportions is taking place. We strongly urge you to unequivocally condemn the actions of the Egyptian government.
The time is now to support the people of Egypt. Call on the Egyptian government to open the lines of communication, turn the internet back on and support the freedom of expression.
We thank you for giving this issue your utmost attention.
