Protest the City of Houston's needless revocation of the Certificate of Occupancy for Paco Joe's

As a friend and patron of Paco Joe's/Flamingo Room and as a concerned Houstonian, I strongly protest the needless and harmful revocation of the Certificate of Occupancy for Paco Joe's/The Flamingo Room, 9906 Gulf Freeway, Houston, TX 77034, and respectfully urge you, as a representative of the people and businesses of this city, to help address this issue which has suddenly jeopardized the livelihood of over 100 Houstonians.

Paco Joe's has been accused of having done structural work since the issuance of their certificate was approved and issued. This is not the case, and they have ample documentation to prove this, which they were not allowed to show at the time their certificate was revoked. In this time of economic hardship it is inexcusable an outrageous that a legitimate business is kept from opening and that the 147 people they kept employed have been sent home because the city does not have a copy of something they already inspected and approved.

Rather than force Paco Joe's unnecessarily to resubmit everything in a process that would keep these people out of work and a business closed for untold weeks or months, and add cost to the city, we urge you to help arrange a special meeting of the parties and departments concerned where Paco Joe's can present all of their documentation of compliance at one time, to be followed by a single inspection and immediate approval. This business has been run safely and in accordance with all city requirements since the beginning, and this mistake on the part of the city should be immediately corrected so they can go back to providing jobs to hardworking Houstonians in a hard-hit area.
