Make are Florida Waterways Safer. Stronger laws needed

Good afternoon to all,
My name is Isabel Castellanos, I lost a beautiful 23 year old son name Osmany "Ozzie" in a horrific boating accident on July 8,07. Ozzie thought he was just going to enjoy a day of fun at Elliott Key instead, his life was taken from him by a negligent and careless driver who never followed boating guidelines. Ozzie was killed in a boating accident that should of never happened. He was knocked off the boat, run over by the boats propellers and left in the water were he drowned. If the owner of the boat would of followed proper boating safety procedures, my son would of been alive today. Too many lives have been taken, too many fatalities and injuries have occurred in Florida.  People have lost an arm, a leg because of lack of education. Florida is the second highest in boating fatalities and accidents in the United States this year. 

Today, anyone can buy a boat and take it out into the water without ever having experience in boating. You don't need a license, don't need to take a test or take boating classes. It's only mandatory for people under 21 yet the driver that caused the accident was 27 years old. If you look into the Coast Guard and FWC reports the majority of the accidents are people over 21. 

This is unacceptable. We need change and we need it now.
A boat is as dangerous as a car. BUI becomes DUI drivers when they come out of the water. I am here today to fight for stronger boating laws and I need your support. I want to make our Florida Waterways Safer.
One, by making it mandatory for all boaters to be certified by taking mandatory boating classes from age 14 and above. I want boating licenses to become a reality. To drive a car or motorcycle you need a license, to fish you need a license. Well boaters should take out a boating license this not only certifies that they have taken boating classes with the Coast guard but it will also make are waterways safer by showing identification. It will help secure our waterways. My purpose is to help save people lives, the same way my son did each and everyday as a Lifeguard for Miami Dade County.

I do not want another person to suffer the pain my family is dealing with each day. I never imagined it would happen to my family but it did and the truth is that it can happen to yours. Education is the Key to success.

Please support me in this cause. Contact your local and state politician and your legislator and ask them to make are waterways safer for all to enjoy.
