Make the European Parliament a WiFi Hotspot

Leaving the office and traveling down to Strasbourg one week a month is a bind for parliamentary staff, journalists and pa people alike.

Its made even more so when we get there and find little space to work. If you are an assistant you squeeze some work in on the couch. If you are just visiting, there is one open access computer room, otherwise its the hotel or the crackberry.

The open areas of the Parliament are beautiful but unused. As such, we believe that a small step towards making the whole experience less painful would be the introduction of WiFi internet access in communal areas such as the Flower and Swan bar.

There must be a WiFi provider out there willing to take on the challenge and gain some brownie points with our elected representatives. In an ideal world, assistants and MEPs would be provided with WiFi access for free, while external visitors could be charged to cover costs with of course any profits going to a charity of the EP President's choice.
