Character petition for Darrell K. Darden and Ronald Glenn Acker, Jr.

We all know that DJ and Ronnie are good people ate heart. They have names in the community that are both respected and loved. They have touched people%u2019s lives from the little town of Deridder reaching all the way out to Texas and

Georgia.  I know DJ has 1,113 Facebook friends alone and Ronnie has 1,675! If we can get half of you to sign this petition we can make a difference.  Sign then get the word out%u2026. These aren%u2019t just our friends they are our brothers.

This petition is to request a bond/bail reduction for Darrell Keith Darden Jr. and Ronald Glenn Acker Jr.  The individuals that signed this petition are attesting to the fact that Darrell and Ronald are men of good character and that they have been positive roles models to their peers, and upstanding members of the Beauregard Parish community.

Darrell (DJ) Darden moved to Beauregard Parish when his step-father was stationed at Fort Polk in 2007.  He was a leader and member of the DeRidder High School Dragon Varsity football and track teams, and served as a leader in the Jr. ROTC program for 2 years. While in high school, DJ co-founded the gospel rap singing group, New Era.  The group traveled to churches in Louisiana and Texas to minister the word of God to children and teens.

DJ aspires to be a counselor for youth.  Although DJ had the opportunity to attend Langston University on a football scholarship, he chose to attend Christian-based Baylor University on a full Army ROTC scholarship. Since last June, DJ has been working for The Forge for Families, a Christ-centered mentoring program aimed at bringing transforming growth to Houston's Third Ward community.

Ronald (Ronnie) Acker has been a well-liked and respected member of the Beauregard Parish for years.  Ronnie participated in the youth groups of both Grace Church and Rivers of Living Water Church.  He traveled with New Era gospel rap, taking the message of hope to youth and teens in Louisiana and Texas.  Ronnie was an outstanding leader of the DeRidder High School Dragon Varsity football and track teams.  He attended school in Atlanta, Georgia on a football scholarship.  After the passing of his mother in August 2010, he returned to Eunice to attend the Louisiana State University at Eunice.  Ronnie has plans to continue his education and become a football coach.

Darrell and Ronnie pose no threat to the community, although they may be guilty of having misplaced loyalty to undeserving friends.  They are still capable of being productive citizens in any community in which they live, if given a chance. On behalf of all of the individuals that signed this petition, we are asking for a bond/bail reduction.
