Remember Farrah Fawcett For Her Contributions To Domestic Violence

Let's remember Farrah Fawcett for her unforgettable performance in the epic movie The Burning Bed.  It was her chance to be known as a serious actress, but she did far more then that, she brought the light of understanding to the plight of "battered mothers", who had to defend their own lives and the lives of their children from abusive domestic partners for the very first time to American TV watchers. She was determined to make the movie in spite of opposition from movie makers who did not want to focus on the issue in 1983, she is to be honored for her courage, determination, and her compassion for women suffering the effects of domestic abuse. She brought great social change and made women's history!
Join with me and ask the Governor to follow the lead in Florida and release battered mothers in prison. There have been no repeat offenses
and all battered women's experts agree "battered women" are not a threat to society and never have been a threat. Many are without any history of violence or criminal history before becoming victims of abuse. Many have been robbed of the battered women's defense and severely punished. www.freedebbie.org, www.freebatteredmotherjaniceritcheyw53958, www.freenormacumpian  Why do we even incarcerate battered women survivors at all? The Federal Supreme Court recommends an acquittal or manslaugter.  3 California District Judges are recommending parole for battered women.....so why are we not releasing these Mothers back home to their children? If the Governor is going to release 5000 men then why not 5000 women? Where is the equality? Why are the laws to protect women not followed? Where is the Justice?
Farrah, you will have my heartfelt graditude for all you have given. I will remember all  you did when you were very ill. Thank you for the new privacy law and the BIG question posed to Congress and the President of The United States for health care reform. "Why don't we have more alternative medicine studies for Cancer?" Thank you for sharing your journey.... and your pain and your joy with us.....you did so much when you did not have to do it. I know you will be even busier in heaven doing the work of Angels along with real Angels. You left us too soon, but, I will always remember your contributions for worthwhile change.
*** For those of you who want to take ACTION sign the above mentioned petitions underligned and below..... It is the biggest reason we do not have more studies on alternative medicine going. www.nha2009.com

Dear Governor,
Many years have past since 1985, when the Battered Women's Syndrome Defense was ruled by the Federal Supreme Court with a recommended sentence of an "acquittal or manslaughter". This law was intended to protect women (our Mothers) who had to defend their own lives and the lives of their children from domestic abuse when the other reality is death for women and very few women do survive. These fatal events happen daily and the numbers of abused women is staggering and especially now in the economic down turn.
Recently, The California Supreme Court and 3 District Judges have recommended parole for battered women in prison. So, why not let them go and stop this injustice and this insanety? What are you waiting for? Californian's voted for the recall to get you into office to be the "Gover-nator" and straighten out some of the maddness and such blantant injustices such as this over sentencing of women. Battered women need your help not further punishment. There was no kindergarten cop around when they needed help! Women are most at risk when they try to leave!
If you are going to release 5000 men back home to take care of their families then release 5000 battered women. Incarcerated women have a higher work record and have started and completed all self help programs
and have gotten vocational training and earned college degrees while incarcerated.
I sit out in front of stores gathering signatures and registering people to vote. I have talked to voters and I can assure you that the people are shocked to learn we have women in prison for defending their lives and their children from domestic abuse.
Keeping them incarcerated and away from their children says something about what kind of society we are.....do we live in Russia? We are ranking just under Russia for our mistreatment of women....and we are suppose to be the shinning example to the world as the leaders of the free world.
Please place it in your heart to remember Farrah Fawcett and what she tried to teach us about women suffering from the effects of abuse. Please just do the right thing and set battered women free from prison. Let's bring America forward by setting an example in California by changing this outcome and by fixing some of the ills of the over controlling  Department of Corrections and prison system. As a Society we have to learn when enough is enough and to have compassion.
What would you do if this was your daughter?
