To Bioware and affiliated companies,
We, the gaming population, Star Wars fans, and the like, hereby wish to express our concerns over the recent rumors that Bioware is developing a MMORPG based on the well-established Knights of the Old Republic series.
As Star Wars fans and gamers, we recognize that KOTOR and KOTOR 2 were games that revolutionized the gaming world in their creative stories, interesting characters, original plot, and great locations.
We also recognize the potential of KOTOR 2 and the content that was left out to release this game in time for the holidays. Despite this, we feel that KOTOR is one of the best game series to grace the Star Wars universe.
It is our thought that Bioware should not develop of MMORPG based on the KOTOR series. KOTOR works best as a strictly console-only or computer-only game. We as gamers enjoy the ability to play at our own pace, without the hassle of logging onto a server. Further, we feel that paying subscription fees to enjoy a game is not acceptable and would drive away the existing fan base. Also, when a character in MMORPG dies, they no longer exist. Their abilities remain but you must create a new character. This goes against the former RPG properties of simply loading a save, etc to have your character remain. In addition to these things, the relatively endless open-ended facet of the game causes plot to be secondary or even tertiary to exploring or developing traits that are not essential to character combat.
For these reasons, we the gaming population and Star Wars fans, request that you DO NOT continue developing your MMORPG for KOTOR! Instead, we would prefer you spend time investing on a regular RPG known as KOTOR 3.
Sincerely,
Gamers and Star Wars Fans
