TELL ETSY TO GET RID OF RESELLERS
Etsy claims to have stringent guidelines where you are only allowed to post items that are
1. Handmade personally by the seller.
2. Vintage (more than 25 years old)
3. Supplies to be used for crafting.
Anyone who has visited either Etsy.com or Regretsy.com will have noticed that there are many many items on Etsy that are NOT any of those. There are many sellers who are re-selling commercially made and/or wholesale purchased goods, claiming them as handmade or vintage. When this is brought to the attention of Etsy.com, they claim that the goods fit the criteria above.
Please help us stop these resellers from taking sales from people who legitimately use Etsy, especially the crafters who put their hearts into their work.
Dear Etsy.com,
We, the undersigned, think that your practice of allowing re-sellers to market commercially made goods must stop.
We believe in the idea that Etsy.com was founded on, and are upset with how re-sellers and commercial companies have infiltrated it. This takes sales away from honest crafters, as well as greatly reduces the integrity of your site.
Please take stronger action against re-sellers and
close down their shops. Please commit to taking complaints about re-sellers more seriously and properly investigate them.
