This petition supports President Obama's vision for a nuclear weapons free world and urges U.S. ratification of the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty (CTBT) and the START II Treaty (between the U.S. and Russian Federation), and compliance with the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty (NPT). It also supports progressive transformation of the U.S. nuclear weapons complex from production into non-proliferation, disarmament, disassembly and cleanup. We, the undersigned, support:
1. a United Nations Security Council Resolution, proposed by the Obama Administration, which creates the conditions for a world without nuclear weapons and undiminished security for all;
2. U.S. ratification of the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty (CTBT), which provides for global monitoring and verification of all types of nuclear weapons testing;
3. U.S. ratification of the Treaty on the Reduction and Limitation of Strategic Offensive Arms (or START II) between the Russian Federation and the United States of America, to limit the number of nuclear weapons;
4. U.S. compliance with the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), which requires the Parties conduct good faith negotiations to reduce their nuclear arsenals and disarm; and
5. Progressive transformation of the U.S. nuclear weapons complex from production into non-proliferation, disarmament, disassembly and cleanup.
