The Temple University Department of Dance has consistently rendered remarkable service to the university community at-large. Consider the following:
-Annually, our faculty and graduate students have provided the teaching of classes in the core curriculum to over 1500 students across the Temple academic community
-Our performances have consistently garnered media attention here in Philadelphia and beyond which has positively reflected on our College
-Our faculty are consistently making contributions to the fields of dance, cultural studies and arts advocacy through publishing, teaching, choreography and professional service in a number of local, state and
national organizations
-Our alumni are recognized across the nation as leaders in the dance field for their consistent excellence in performance, choreography, teaching and research
In order to continue to do world-class work in our discipline, tangible resources are need to support the Department of Dance.
We the undersigned are asking you to allocate more financial support and resources to the Department of Dance. Plainly, the insubstantial amount of funding allocated for Teaching Assistants/Adjunct Faculty in the Department of Dance coupled with the lack of tangible space (rehearsal space, office space, performance space, etc.) is not enough. In order for the Department of Dance to continue to thrive funding to support our graduate students and the space to do the work our discipline demands is needed. We are asking for a tangible show of support on your part for the Department of Dance. Thank you for your time and consideration.
