Support Sustainable Trade
We need a sustainable system of trade that supports local and regional economies without degrading ecosystems. It should follow this model:
1) Keep the supply line short and direct.
2) Keep production facilities close to resources and the consuming market.
3) Use only renewable energy.
4) Use only recycled and durable materials.
5) Reduce material use to a minimum.
6) Make sure all wastes are recycled, reused or biodegraded back to nature.
7) Reduce packaging to a minimum.
8) Reduce all unnecessary mechanical and human labor.
9) Reduce the number of distribution channels a product must travel trough from production to end consumer.
We the undersigned want a sustainable form of trade that does not damage our environment. Extensive and long distance shipping of resources does not make since when regions have the capacity to be self-sufficient.
