Tell the TSA to Apologize for Racially Profiling Shoshana Hebshi

On September 11, 2011, two Indian men and a half-Arab, half-Jewish woman, were detained at Detroit's Metropolitan Airport for "suspicious activity," which consisted entirely of spending a "long time" in the bathroom.

Tell the TSA to apologize for this flagrant act of racial profiling.

Police boarded the plane after it landed, handcuffed the three passengers--who had never met before the flight--and led them to an offsite building, where they were placed in jail cells. The female passenger, Shoshana Hebshi, an American citizen, was subjected to a strip search and was refused the opportunity to use a private bathroom.

Sign this petition to tell the TSA that race alone is not enough to constitute suspicious activity. Ask the TSA to apologize for the detainment of these passengers and to revise its policies to end racial profiling.
We the undersigned call on you to apologize for the flagrant act of racial profiling that occurred on September 11, 2011, when two Indian men and a half-Arab, half-Jewish woman were detained at the Detroit Metropolitan Airport for "suspicious activity." According to the flight crew, this activity consisted of spending a "long time" in the bathroom. Race alone is not enough to constitute suspicious activity--if these passengers had been white, spending too long in the bathroom would not have resulted in Homeland Security detaining them. We ask you to apologize for the detainment of these passengers and to revise your policies to end racial profiling.
