Trident Tech's Visual Arts Department lacks a computer lab that remains open to all students. The majority of Visual Arts students need to come into Trident's computer labs to use the software and complete assigned projects. This is often difficult because there are several classes being taught throughout each week day, and limited open computers available.
Although there are open lab hours during the weekend, it would be very beneficial to students to have a separate lab that remains open throughout the week. (Trident tech students are students that have jobs as well as attend classes, we have little free time to spend in the computer lab during weekends.) An open lab would benefit the instructors as well, while they would not have to be interrupted with students coming in during their class period searching for an open computer to work on. A continual open computer lab would be particularly valuable during the final weeks of the semester when everyone is stressing out to find a free computer.
In addition, a separate open lab that includes more than 3 printers would be a tremendous gain for Visual Arts students. Out of the few students that can afford Adobe software, there are even fewer that have printing capabilities at home. And so, virtually every student who has a print project due must find time to come to Trident tech to search for an open computer that is hooked up to one of 3 Epson printers (8 if you count the scary, uncalibrated Epsons in the 740a room).
Tell the Visual Arts Department that we are in dire need of a designated OPEN computer lab. Please sign the petition and leave your comments. Thank you everyone!

Please help the Visual Arts students to aquire an open computer lab to complete projects.
Thank you so much for your time in this matter.
