A child's education isn't cheap, or at least it shouldn't be. The belief among most school districts is to recruit and hire the best teachers who will provide a high quality education to the students within district. We know that the best teachers are those that come with experience. This sophisticated model is not being practiced to the fullest in the Odessa-Montour Central School district. Former long term employee Stan Mathews is being turned away from the Odessa-Montour School District in an attempt to save the district a few thousand dollars. Cost savings to this degree is impractical and downright unethical. This sort of decision making by the district's leader is surely not looking out for the best interest of the students. The Odessa-Montour school district needs Stan Mathews. Stan Mathews left the district in 2014 as his family relocated to California. He has now moved back to the area where he plans to stay. Stan has been nominated for an excellence in teaching award on three different occasions. He has positively impacted the children of the Odessa-Montour for 11 years. He has received the "Highly Effective" status on his NYS teacher evaluations for all of his years teaching under the new NYS teacher evaluation system. He is without a doubt a teacher that would positively influence any child's education. I am asking that you help in this endeavor. By signing this petition, you are helping to promote Stan Mathews' hiring in the O-M school district. Our schools need quality teachers like him. Our schools need distinguished experience over amateur inexperience. Help do what is best and right for the students of Odessa-Montour.
