End horse-drawn carriage rides in Chicago

  • destinatario: Chicago Aldermen Brian Hopkins and Brendan Reilly
In several cities in the United States, horse-drawn carriage rides are big money. Unfortunately, those big bucks come at a terrible price.

Horses are often worked to death providing rides through parks and city streets for tourists who have no idea the animals are suffering. In fact, just this year there have been at least 10 cases of horse deaths, injuries or traffic accidents around the world — all involving horse-drawn carriages.

In the city of Chicago two aldermen are trying to do something about, and if they get their way, horse-drawn carriage licenses will no longer be renewed in the Windy City. The aldermen believe these rides are not only a danger to motorists but they are also just plain cruel. They aren't wrong, a recent investigation showed that horses in the Chicago were working up to 12 hours a day, far longer than the Chicago ordinances allow.

Horse-drawn carriage rides are no fairytale, for the horse they are a nightmare and they should no longer be allowed in Chicago.

Please sign the petition and tell Aldermen Brian Hopkins and Brendan Reilly that you support their push to end horse and carriage rides in Chicago. Together we can end this practice in one of America's biggest cities.
