Stop ageism in health care, demand Shingrix be covered under MSP

Shingles is a painful disease affecting people primarily aged 50 and over.
A new vaccine, Shingrix has been approved for use in Canada.
It is said to be about 90 per cent effective in preventing the disease of shingles from evidence based on clinical trials.
The vaccine is not currently covered under MSP and costs approximately $200 - $300. As many senior citizens in Canada live on a fixed income, this vaccine should be at least partially subsidized, since 1 out of 3 people have had chicken pox in their lifetime, putting them at risk of contracting shingles.
Why are vaccines for younger populations publicly funded but not one that primarily affects the senior population?
Do seniors who paid taxes their whole lives not deserve some semblance of quality of life rather rather than be issued the glib statement handed down from the BC Human rights tribunal last year that 'No one ever died from Shingles' This is ageism, pure and simple.
