Up until earlier last century, human overpopulation was no issue. There were no more than 2 billion people in the world and the growth rate was very low (compared to today, at least). Since then, the number of people in the world has increased by over 5 billion and is increasing by around 200,000 every day!
With the human population rapidly expanding, over animals are getting fewer and fewer places to live, pushing them further to the edge of extinction. Also, our planet is only big enough to fit so many people and contains only a limited amount of resources. If the human population continues to expand at this rate, we will soon risk running short on room for everyone to live, as well as resources to survive on!
Unless we start taking serious action soon, we will not be just endangering the existence of all other species on this planet, but also our very own! Our world leaders must be aware of this and need to start making it a top priority... before things get out of control!!
