People are faking service dogs which is illegal and damaging to those who need them. The USSDR is the largest supplier. Just pay 50 dollars and you can fake a service dog.
Faking service dogs can be life threatening to those with medical alert dogs because people with fake service dogs allow people to coo at and pet their fake service dog, so people think it's ok to do that to all service dogs. Distracting a medical alert dog means it is not paying attention to the handler's condition. If the handler were to, say, have a seuzure thet could die.
It also affects psychiatric patients. They could have an axiety attack while the dog is distracted by the cooing stranger, and so the dog well not help the handler.
It also affect those with invisible disablities by the fact they are now asked about the dog, for the dogs credentials, and why they have one. That is not only illegal but extremely rude.
